Nikon Surf Photo of The Year 2013

Nikon Surf Photo of the year 2013

These are the top 20 finalists in the Nikon Surf Photo of the Year which will be announced at the Australian Surfing Awards in Sydney on 20th February, 2013. The award is for the best single surfing-themed image taken during 2012. While the image must be taken by an Australian photographer, the photo can be taken anywhere around the world and can be drawn from action, water, lifestyle, lineup or portrait photography.

Some awesome photo’s, my favourite is Ray Collins’ underwater shot (33 seconds in) that I saw on his instagram feed a little while ago. It’s a shot I can imagine trying to re-create, once the weather warms up a bit there’s a couple of places near me which might have clear enough water for a shot like this to work, now I’ve got a fisheye I’m keen to try them out.

Close second for me is Luke Shadbolts black and white shot which inspires me as a UK based photographer to get out amongst it even when the weather’s crap.

You can see those photo’s and the other top 20 nice and big on Magicseaweed.
