New Canon DSLR’s Announced – Perfect First Cameras for Surf Photography?

If you’ve been following the tech news you might have seen this already, if not check out the video below for the run down on two new DSLR’s from Canon which could well be the best option if you’re looking to get into surf photography:

The 700D is looking like a decent alternative to the 60D, which is what I’m using at the moment, if I was looking at getting a new camera right now to start out in surf photography the 700D would be right at the top of my list.

One thing to bare in mind is the buffer size, although the 700D manages a very respectable 5 shots per second, the buffer is only 6 shots in RAW, I just tested my 60D and I got 16 shots before it slowed down, that can make a huge difference when shooting sports like surfing.

The 100D looks to be an attempt to move into the area that micro Four Thirds and similar cameras have been taking over, the smaller, more user friendly size, excellent video performance and improved low light capabilities could make it a perfect candidate for a water housing manufacturer to work with.

But the next big announcement I’m waiting for is the 70D, which should give the 7D a run for it’s money as the pro surf photographers choice of cropped sensor body. Hopefully the announcement will happen soon.
